This is my go-to bowl every single day. It is quick, comforting and super easy! It takes around 5 minutes, perfect for early mornings, a post-workout breakfast, or a cosy winter warm-up. Warm, creamy, lightly sweet, and endlessly customisable.
Ingredients
- 1 cup of rolled oats (I love Quaker for the perfect texture)
- 1 tsp flax seed (or alternative of your choice)
- 20-25g protein powder (Vanilla/White Choc works beautifully for me)
- 250ml milk/water (I personally prefer oat milk)
- A small handful of Belgian milk chocolate chips
- 1 banana, sliced
- A handful of blueberries (frozen raspberries/strawberries work well too)
- A sprinkle of seeds ( I use the M&S Gut Health Booster mix)
Method
- Measure one cup of rolled oats into a microwave-safe bowl.
- Add the flax seeds and protein powder.
- Stir the dry ingredients together well before adding liquid. This helps to prevent lumps and keep the texture smooth.
- Pour in the milk/water of your choice – I recommend 250ml but this can be adjusted depending on your desired texture.
- Microwave for 1 minute.
- Stir well, then microwave for another 1 minute until thick and creamy.
- Add a small handful of chocolate chips to one side of the bowl and let them melt into the warm oats.
- Top with sliced banana and a handful of blueberries (you could even make a quick, jammy compote with your berries!) Apple and cinnamon work well as a cosy, autumn-inspired variation.
- Finish with a generous sprinkle of your seed mix.
- Enjoy your nourishing, balanced bowl, packed with protein, fibre and healthy fats. It’s the kind of breakfast that fuels a gym session, keeps you focused at work and feels like quiet self-care all in a bowl.
Why this bowl is so good for you
- Flax seeds – support digestion, and are rich in fibre and omega-3s.
- Protein powder – helps keep you full, supports muscle repair and balances blood sugar levels.
